EPIC-Norfolk is a partner in the UK Longitudinal Linkage Collaboration (UK LLC), a national research resource that brings together information from long-running population studies across the UK.
UK LLC was initially established in response to the COVID-19 pandemic as part of the UK Government’s National Core Studies programme. It was designed to enable researchers to better understand the impacts of COVID-19 by securely linking data from longitudinal studies with participants’ routine health records.
UK LLC has since expanded its remit and now supports a wide range of public good health and wellbeing research. By bringing together data from many studies within a secure Trusted Research Environment (TRE), researchers can investigate how lifestyle, environment, social circumstances, and biological factors influence health over time.
Participation in UK LLC allows EPIC-Norfolk data to be analysed alongside information from other UK studies in a secure and controlled way. Researchers access de-identified data only, and strict governance and security safeguards are in place to protect participants’ information.
Linking EPIC-Norfolk study data with routine health records helps researchers better understand patterns of disease, treatment, and health outcomes across the population. This research contributes to improving prevention, healthcare, and public health policy in the UK.
